Founder & CEO of The Guiding Principles. I've built systems for my own life since 2021, from paper notebooks and Notion to Unity Systems and now Lift. I live in Bad Vilbel near Frankfurt, and I'll move wherever the company needs me.
I've always thought in systems: how can I make something more effective, and easier for me?
Until I was 21 I had never read a book. I chased quick pleasure and had no direction.
2021
In early 2021 I read Think and Grow Rich, the first book I read from cover to cover, and I've learned something every day since.
2023
In 2023 I had picked out two monasteries, and I chose the opposite path: to build something for as many people as possible.
I'm creative and I have a lot of ideas. I think from first principles because I always ask why, and I weigh things before I decide.
I trust my taste, and I'm open to critique, which I couldn't take a few years ago.
My path
2016 to 2020:I trained at the Steigenberger Academy in hotel and tourism management.
2016 to 2022, and 2024:I worked service and bar at events, in the Allianz Arena VIP area, in a Frankfurt hotel internship (2017), at Schloss Elmau (2019) and at the Restaurant & Café Alte Mühle (2021 to 2022 and 2024). In 2022 I did a barista course and the trainer certificate.
bachelor's, tourism management · IU2020 to 2025:I studied tourism management at IU and graduated in October 2025.
2021:the turn, with my first book and learning every day since.
2023:a year in Canada and the US with my co-founder Philipp, and the choice against the monastery.

I build Lift alongside a paid part-time job in my father's painting business, about 15 hours a week since 2025, which stops if YC accepts us.

AI agents and coding
2,000+ hours
I've worked with AI agents and learned about AI for more than 2,000 hours: the documentation, courses and countless YouTube videos. I've taken in far more than this page can show.
Source: my own estimate, October 2026.
Where I learned it
Course: IndyDevDan's Tactical Agentic Coding
Course: Ray Amjad's Claude Code class
Practice: daily practice
Practice: one lesson a day
Course: Harvard's CS50 Python and CS50 AI
Practice: daily concept lessons
Practice: my own life system in Notion
I direct teams of AI coding agents every day and review what they built overnight. I learned it in IndyDevDan's Tactical Agentic Coding, Ray Amjad's Claude Code class and daily practice.
I understand how agents work and where they fail. That includes the safety basics: a human in the loop, the least access each agent needs, and never one agent that holds private data, reads outside input and can send things out. I learned it from daily practice and one lesson a day.
In 2025 I built my first AI system for my bachelor thesis: it found and sorted sources, helped me plan the structure and gave feedback on my writing.
I'm not an engineer: I have basic Python and basic architecture knowledge. What I do is build and orchestrate multi-agent systems and engineer their context; AI agents write the code under my direction. I learned the basics in Harvard's CS50 Python and CS50 AI and in daily concept lessons.
I learned how databases and data relate by building my own life system in Notion.
Product, systems and business
I've built systems for my own life since 2021: paper notebooks, a life system in Notion, an AI system for my thesis, then Unity Systems from December 2025 and Lift (working name) since August 2026. Unity Systems was Lift's first version; it broke where its parts had to work together, and Lift is the rebuild.
My real field is learning how to learn: how people take in knowledge, keep it and use it. I learned it through iCanStudy, Jim Kwik's Kwik Recall and Kwik Thinking, and years of teaching myself.
I design from the user's day: what someone does each morning and why it matters to them.
I always look for the simplest way that works.
I know the problem from the inside, because I lived without direction and then built my own way out, and I'm far from the only one with that struggle.
I also ran an online store in 2023, a story-driven YouTube project in 2026 and Orisons, an agentic layer for restaurants, which we stopped after a month to stay with Lift.
My business training comes from the Steigenberger Academy, where I trained in hotel and tourism management from 2016 to 2020, and a bachelor's in tourism management at IU from 2020 to 2025. In 2022 I earned the German trainer certificate (AEVO).
On startups I read Zero to One, The One Thing, The 4-Hour Workweek, The Millionaire Fastlane, Good to Great and Walter Isaacson's Steve Jobs.
Sales and marketing
In 2023 my co-founder Philipp and I spent a year in Canada and the US, and we ran an online store there, Redream Media, with Facebook ads and social media marketing.
I served guests face to face for six years, from a luxury hotel to the VIP area of the Allianz Arena.Source: my jobs from 2016 to 2022.
I learned to build offers so good that saying no feels stupid from Alex Hormozi's $100M Offers, and it became one of my principles.
I learned funnels, traffic and marketing as serving one chosen audience from Russell Brunson's Expert Secrets and Traffic Secrets and Seth Godin's This Is Marketing.
I learned storytelling and speaking from Skillshare's Storytelling for Leaders, Vinh Giang's STAGE Academy and two months on a story-driven YouTube project.
I learned ads and social media through Skillshare courses on Facebook Ads and Social Media Marketing.
On selling and persuasion I read Jordan Belfort's Way of the Wolf and Og Mandino's The Greatest Salesman in the World.
Design and visual taste
I judge and direct every design round of our product myself: I pick, I reject and I say why.
Where I learned it
Work: hotels and hospitality
Practice: making videos and pictures
Practice: building my own systems
Practice: years of looking at good work
Course: Kolder Creative
Course: Skillshare
Work: YouTube project
My eye comes from years in hotels and hospitality, where how things look and feel is the whole job, from making videos and pictures, from building my own systems, and from years of looking at good work: films, photography, apps and brands.
I learned video and film through Kolder Creative's video courses (DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, After Effects), Skillshare editing courses and my own YouTube project.
I serve the moment in front of me as well as I can.
Preferences are the root of fear and frustration, so I stay calm when plans change.
I commit deeply, and I enjoy the hard work.
My failures are my real teachers.
Money is fuel, not the goal.
A system helps, but you still have to do the work.
I learned this from Michael Singer, from the Stoics through Ryan Holiday and Marcus Aurelius, from Robert Greene's The 48 Laws of Power and Mastery, from Miyamoto Musashi, from Alex Hormozi and from my own failures.
Spirituality
I meditate, and I follow the lessons of the Self-Realization Fellowship, the path of Paramahansa Yogananda.
The habit I value most is watching my thoughts and emotions instead of being pulled by them, because it lets me decide more clearly and with less ego. I learned it from Michael Singer's course Living from a Place of Surrender, which I've gone through three times since 2023, and from all of his books.
Yogananda's Autobiography of a Yogi got me hooked on spirituality. Since then I've read Eckhart Tolle, Ramana Maharshi, Deepak Chopra, the Bhagavad Gita, Thich Nhat Hanh, Sadhguru and Alan Watts, and I've watched many videos.
I learned mindset, imagination and visualisation from Napoleon Hill and Joseph Murphy.
Learning
I taught myself almost everything I use, and now I learn most of it with AI as my teacher, twenty-five concepts a day.
Source: my own count of my daily lessons, October 2026.
I've watched years of documentaries: physics and the universe (One Strange Rock, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Brian Cox), the Egyptians, Rome, Greece, World War II, technology, AI and business.
I tie habits to cues and check them every day. I learned it from Atomic Habits, Deep Work and The One Thing, and from Ali Abdaal's course on Skillshare and his book Feel-Good Productivity.
I also learned from Blake Boles' The Art of Self-Directed Learning and Jim Kwik's Limitless.
Character, and the books that show it
My grandmother called me a "five-minute player", because I started things and dropped them as soon as they got hard. That changed.
